Hello! I am a Nepalese individual software developer. I worked on this DV Lottery Photo Checker because I realized how many individuals, with their hopes of having a new life in the U.S., were cut short due to a mere technical error that is easily avoidable, and that is an incomplete photograph.

The Diversity Visa (DV) Program is a great idea, and its stringent technical procedures in relation to photos may be baffling. I do not want to make a complex, expensive, and difficult-to-access item that you can use to verify your photo before you upload it. The project is my solution to assist other applicants who have to overcome one of the most frequent steps of the process with the help of my skills in programming.

The History of the Present Project.

It was not a product of a large corporation or a group of attorneys. It was built by one person--me. Having lived in Nepal, I could observe the enthusiasm and the nervousness, which prevails during the lottery season in DV every year. I have heard of friends and neighbors who needed to take so much worry about their photo, and some of the people who submitted their applications and were turned down without a logical explanation.

I understood that a bare validation tool could give me the peace of mind and avoid avoidable disqualifications. So, I decided to build it. The given site is the fruit of that work a personal project aimed at making the DV application process a bit less frustrating to all of us.

How The Technology Works

The DV Lottery Photo Checker is an automated script that reviews your photo according to the known technical specifications that have been posted on the U.S. Department of State. It verifies the following important parameters:

• Dimensions (e.g., 600x600 pixels)
• The size of the head and the location in the frame.
• Eye height
• Background color and homogeneity.
• File size and format

The tool will offer real-time feedback to assist in identifying possible problems. Although I am constantly striving to refine the precision of it, it is an automatic check and may not notice all of the subtleties. It is meant as a guide to be used and not as an ultimate.

I realize that a personal photograph is a sensitive information. I need your trust and the privacy of your data is my absolute priority in creating this service.

It is quite easy and safe: you upload your photo to the server where it is analyzed and removed forever in case the check is finished. I do not save, watch, distribute or sell any images or personal information. It is a free service, and I do not want to make money out of your information.

The Future of This Tool

Since I am a one-person developer, I intend to continue working on and developing this tool as effectively as possible. Hopefully, I will continue to inform the checker about any modifications in the official DV Program regulations and make it even more useful in the future. It is a passion project, and I am happy to play a role, however, insignificant, in your DV journey.
